Ash-Shaghambah

REGISTERED: Yes

OTHER NAMES: Shunit Yusif, Tall Minyat al-Habib

This site probably represents one of the fortified garrison cities created after the expulsion of the Hyksos at the beginning of the New Kingdom. Petrie noted an impressive enclosure wall, although it is practically indiscernible today. Pit graves, granaries and other installations have also been recorded, and occupation seems to have continued into the Graeco-Roman period.

Not much remains of the site today, and the most well preserved part lies under a modern cemetery.
