    This is the famous site of Avaris, the Hyksos capital situated along the ancient Pelusiac branch of the Nile. The site has been extensively excavated by Manfred Bietak producing spectacular results, including numerous fragments of Minoan style frescoes and rare examples of Hyksos colossal sculpture and material culture. Archaeological remains include temples, a palace and vast settlement areas.

 

Tall ad-Dab'ah covers a vast area and many areas lie unprotected outside the official limits of the site. The site is encroached on by urban housing and agricultural fields.
