Athar Tall al-Luli area

REGISTERED: Under Registration Request.

In antiquity, this site was most probably located next to the ancient Pelusiac branch of the Nile and was an important fort and trade center. Remains date to the Late Period and Graeco-Roman period, including a Late Roman bath of brick. An early church was probably also located here. Today it is still a substantial tall covered with barren land and partly destroyed by as-Salam (Peace) Canal. Recently, some conservation was undertaken by the SCA on the brick built features on the site.

The water from the nearby canal and the partial use as a fish farm pose a danger to the preservation of the site. The remains are exposed and crumbling and there is no adequate site protection
