Birmakim Area

REGISTERED: Under Registration Process

OTHER NAMES: Tall Yusif

Like many other sites in Egypt, Birmakim Area is Under Registration Process, meaning that adequate site protection measures still cannot be initiated. The site was excavated in the 1980's and remains were dated to the Graeco-Roman period. It is partially buried below an Islamic cemetery and as the nearby village is expanding onto the area as well, the possibilities of performing further excavations are quickly diminishing.
