Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) Conference, September 2003

EAIS participated in this forum on Egypt’s environmental future to raise awareness of the interconnectedness of environmental and historical site preservation. The health of Egypt’s environment is critical to the survival of the record of its contribution to world heritage. At this conference, EAIS sought to underscore one of the hidden costs of environmental degradation and proposed ways in which its system might contribute to the achievement of common goals.

 

Centre d'Etudes Alexandrines Conference, October 2003

EAIS attended this conference, on Ottoman Alexandria, to discuss the work that it has done on the registration of Islamic sites in the city, particularly the Gumruk Quarter, a neighborhood EAIS has studied to explore its system's potential for the registration of an urban historical area.

 

Alliance Française Conference, October 2003

EAIS attended this conference on the architectural heritage of Port Saïd to learn more about the issues confronting architectural heritage preservation and to share its experience with historical site preservation with fellow attendees.

 

International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) Conference, November 2003

EAIS attended this conference to discuss issues on the preservation of cultural heritage, to relay information about its own work, and to gather information on the state and science of cultural heritage preservation.
