EAIS is committed to disseminating the products of its system and information about its work to encourage the protection of historical sites.

Creating a dynamic GIS for the storing and manipulation of maps and archaeological and legal information means that the data collected is constantly being revised and updated, and that the latest information will always be found at the EAIS office in Cairo.

   Printed Format (Atlas)

EAIS plans to issue a detailed Atlas for each governorate covered. The Atlas of Ash-Sharqiyyah governorate (ancient sites) has been published in A3 format with an accompanying CD, titled The Historical Sites of Egypt Volume I: Ash-Sharqiyyah governorate. The A3 book contains registered and unregistered sites in Ash-Sharqiyyah overlaid on a number of maps, including satellite images and new and old ESA 1:2500 cadastral maps. The CD provides detailed site information (archaeological, legal and threat descriptions) and maps for 110 registered sites, as well as basic information for an additional sixteen unregistered sites. This publication constitutes one of the first attempts in Egypt to provide comprehensive site coverage and accurate location with the aim to facilitate site protection and management.

The book is distributed by the AUC Press (ISBN 977-305-481-0) and is available for purchase through AUC and the EAIS office in Cairo. Please contact us for further details.
